RS232 - Issues

Hello

I am using the serial Visa functions to communicate with an external device.

The programme works fine (all sent commands are properly echoed) and I do receive the data properly (the device conditions and records data from a load sensor).

However, the soft does work fine on a desktop but if I move it on a labtop (with a RS232 connection, I tried on 2 computers), I got erratic errors in the data (some of the data, not all, are erroneous). I download the data from the daq by blocks.

Do you have any explanation for this?

Do you use any handshake and/or protocol with your device ?

Check also the power (voltages) on the serial line.
Officially they should be + and - 12 Volt but a lot of laptops cheat.
