Pulse Generation linked with Motion Control

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I am currently controlling a Prior microscope stage with Labview via a serial port.  Labview communicates via the active X functionality to the stage's control box.

I would like to be able to integrate an external pulse generation functionality into the system.  Therefore, I am wondering what kind of hardware I will need to do that?  The pulse only needs to be about 5 V in amplitude and in the 1 - 20 Hz range.

Ultimately, I'd like to cordinate the movement of my microscope stage  with the generation of the external pulse.  Having some kind of feedback would be important as well.

Thank you for your help.

Mike

Hello UW_Mike,

There are a lot of different devices National Instruments offer that do what you need to do.  It all depends on what direction you may need to go in the future.

The 6251 MultifunctionDAQ device comes in PCI, PXI, USB, USB Mass Termination, USB BNC and OEM.  In addition to the ability to generate the desired frequency pulse train it has additional Digital I/O Lines, Analog Inputs and Analog Outputs.  This or a similar device would do what you need it to do and allow for expansion in the future.

Dan King

Thanks Dan.  I appreciate your advice.    I have also received some feedback from my local field engineer and have identified which device will work best for my needs.
