New machine with GPIB problems

Hi,

I am in the middle of integrating a new controller onto a tester we designed and we are currently running into GPIB problems.

The old controller was a cyberchron running Solaris 2.7 and GPIB Driver 2.3.

The new controller is a Tadpole Bullfrog whose h/w architecture is equivalent to that of a Sunblade 1500 running GPIB Driver 2.2. With a PCI GPIB 32 bit card.

The card can see and talk to the instruments within the tester

The problem we have is a SRQ Timeout on a PMCU Instrument with the new controller fitted. Software was created in C language.

I have set Ibconf up exactly the same on the new controller as the old controller(I have also toggled the value of Disable auto Serial Poll.

We believe the SRQ bit is not being set at the right time.

Attached is the detailed output from both controllers (old controller is a cyberchron), if anyone could tell us whether this looks like a GPIB driver problem, or software problem it would be much appreciated,

thanks in advance,

Justin

Hi

Just letting you know I am looking into your issue. It seems like a controller upgrade has in the past also caused SRQ timeout  problems. I am investigaging a solution and will post on here when I know more.

Hi

Please can you tell me what PCI GPIB card you are using.  The standard GPIB cards contain the PCI-GPIB/TNT5004 chip which I have found out is not supported by NI-488,2 version 2.2 for Solaris. The lastest version is 2.3 and has has been fixed for this issue. I would recommend upgrading to this driver if you already have version 2.2. If you are still getting your issue after the upgrade let me know and we can dig deeper.
