NI VISA RUNTIME size

We have instruments with following communication

- Attached USB drivers

- GPIB (using NI GPIB hardware)

- Serial (RS232)

- TCPIP



Q1: We would like to know the list of components of NI VISA run time engine:

Q2: The installation of the above run time engine is too big for us about 70 MB

We need help in identifying the minimum possible size of NI VISA run time engine, that will work for the above instruments mentioned in info above. (So we can create the ZIP of only necessary components) and install that only

That is the minimum size. Why is that too big? What are you trying to install it on?

I reactivate this thread, because it is the same problem here. Till now, we included VISA Runtime 4.6 which is already big enough. The actual VISA Runtime is now 99.02 MB. Our project, which isn't a small one, has only 10.9 MB. So more than 90% of our package would be that VISA part. There are products included as VC2005MSMs and VC2008MSMs. Are they really necessary for using VISA communication in a Borland C++ created project? Also are new products in the package which were not included in older VISA Runtime package as NI_Logos, NI_Logos_XT, NI_SSL_Support and many others. How can I remove them without getting an error message during the silent installation process? Couldn't you create a minimum package with only the really necessary parts? So you have the

and a new

NI-VISA drivers only with much less than 70 MB
