Micropross Card Reader Serial Problem

I have been trying to operate the Micropross Class 185 RFID Card reader using Labview through a serial connection, but I am unable to detect the reader in Labview.  It works very simply in hyperterminal so I know that it is connected correctly. In the Measurement and Automation I was unable to select the serial port as a communication means.  Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I am running WinXP Professional on a Dell laptop.

Hey Kaleco

In order to communicate with your device in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), you need to download the NI-VISA driver
Select the driver for your system and the newest version is recommended.

Once you install this, and restart your computer, you should see a Serial & Parallel option under Devices & Interfaces. Configure the port settings, the same configuration you had for Hyperterminal, under port settings. Now you should be able to communicate with your device by opening the VISA Test Panel.
