How to get a DAQ Card, which isn't from NI, working?

Hello Everyone,

our department has a lot of DAQP-16 cards from Quatech. We normally use them with NextView.

Now I try to get some aceptance for LabView. It would be easier for me if we could continue to use our "old" PCMCIA cards.

The Problem is, that I dont have a clue how to get them working with LabView.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Yes, these cards appear to be quite old. Quatech offers DAQDRIVE drivers for all their products, see this page

http://www.engberg.dk/Backq/software/lvd.htm

Hopefully you are still working with LabVIEW 4 under Windows 3.1indifferent smiley

Maybe they have updated drivers, I see Quatech was bought by Superlogics, probably best for you to contact them directly to see what support they have for LabVIEW.

Thank you,

I am working with LabView 8.20 and Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

You are right I have found some support for LabVIEW 4 und 5.........but not for new LabVIEW Versions. ;(

Is there an possibility to use this DAQ cards even if the Measurement and & Automation Explorer cannot find them?

Max will not find them...

However, most external driver for LabVIEW work by calling some driver dlls, and in some cases the manufactor even provide a wrapper dll for better use in LV.

If you look into the LV 5 driver vis you might find dll calls (Needs LV5 or 6 ). To use them in LV8... you might need to rewrite these dll calls if the update from 5.0 -> 6 ->7 ->8 will not work or is not possible.

Look into the LV-Help 'Using external code in LabVIEW' (or so) found in the Docs or right here http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/8D930295FFBF9F7686256D2C00624728
