EABO errors

Hello

I am trying to communicate with an Elliot Scientific instrument from a Windows 2000 machine. I keep getting an EABO error when I use the NI 488.2 Communicator and the *IDN? query. The results from this command are as follows:
ibsta: 0x100
iberr: EABO
ibcntl: 0

This is a valid command for my instrument and when I use the ibwrt "*idn?" in IBIC I get the correct response, that is its returns
[0100] (CMPL)
count = 5
Likewise when I use the ibrd 100 command I also get the expected response with the instrument name and version being returned.

Also querying the addresses of GPIB and instrument return the correct expected values.

I have tried extending the timeouts of both the GPIB and my instrument to no avail.
I have changed the GPIB interface to 30s using the ibtmo command. But this has not solved my problem.

If anyone can offer any advice as to what the problem may be, it would be most appreciated!

Hi Maeve,

The EABO fail is quite a generic fail. It basically means that the I/O being performed has been aborted. There are many possible reasons for this. Without further detials of the hardware, software and PC that you are using it is difficult to narrow down.
What I would suggest is to visit our knowledge base, there are multiple entires on this possible fail and solutions to fixing the problem. Follow this link below and do a search on EABO, you should get several good his.

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/MainPage?OpenForm&node=133020_US - Use EABO as your search criteria

Hopefully you should find a solution here. If not could you post details of the hardware, software and PC that you are using and I will see if we can narrow it down.
