Configuring superlogics 8018

Hi,

I am very new to labview and I am having trouble configuring my superlogics 8018 daq devise with Labview v5.1 on Windows XP. I am pretty sure that I have installed the labview drivers correctly (which were provided with the product) and I try to use the NI DAQ configuration utility but it doesnt seem to recognize the device. Is there an intermediate step that I am missing? Again, I am new to labview so obvious procedures would help.

Also, is there any possible way that I can configure this product with Labview v8.6?

Thanks!

If by NI-DAQ configuration utility, you mean Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), then you are wasting your time. MAX is for NI devices. This comes up all of the time and I have never understood why people think the NI utility would work with non-NI cards.

If the vendor provides LabVIEW drivers, then you should be able to use them in whatever LabVIEW version that they support.

I looked up the device and saw that it is an RS-485 device. That's a bit different than what I assumed. What will show up in MAX is the serial port that you use to connect to the device. I would assume that the examples you get from the vendor use VISA Read/Write to communicate. Make sure you have NI-VISA installed.
