Best way to input a stero signal to Labview?

I am trying to input a stereo signal from a guitar into Labview. I have the BNC-2120 and was wondering what the best way to send the input in. Should I try to make a BNC-stereo (1/4") cable? If this is not the best option, is it possible to stream the audio into Labview from the PC's microphone input?

I am trying to make a touch sensored guitar and I will ultimately be taking in the guitar signal, determine the frequencies played and then shift those signals according to which sensors were pressed. This is why I would need the some sort of BNC-stereo (or mic and phone input/output from PC) connection for input as well as output.

Hi Lexlantis,

What version of LabVIEW are you using, and what current hardware do you have besides the BNC-2120? LabVIEW has an 'Acquire Sound' express VI, which you can use to take in sound from your soundcard. LabVIEW also has other sound VI's in the tools pallet (Graphics and Sound » Sound). From your description, it sounds like you will be able to do most of your analysis in LabVIEW without any toolkits, however I would encourage you to look at the Sound and Vibration Toolkit. Here is the datasheet for it, giving a description and explaining its features.

Thanks for the answer - I believe our lab has Labview 8. We also have a DAQ card, but I'm not too sure which one it is.

HI,

The technique for putting in 2 channels that I would use is the Multifunction DAQ(mx).
This takes 4 BNC connectors that can accept +_ 5V analogue input from a pick-up or
ideally through a preamplifier.

There are also soundcard interface options that could be used.

You can then use the sound and vibration toolkit to run FFT or transient analysis.
