I downloaded the ARC sp-150vi. This vi apparently just initializes the monochromator (Acton Research SpectraPro-150). I want to drive the monochromator and be able to plot PMT signal vs. the position of the monochromator, but I have been unsuccessful.

I downloaded to driver to look at it and you have two subVIs that issue a command and perform a query. The initialize VI looks to be more of a top level example. If the commands or queries you need are not in the subVIs, it doesn't look like they would be too hard to modify. You would need to instrument's progamming manual. Your other options include using the Instrument I/O Assistant or writing your own driver from scratch.
