488.2 version 2.5 problem

Just uninstalled version 2.4 of 488.2 GPIB code. Also a GPIB.ini file was uninstalled from System32. Installed version 2.5. Now I've got problems. Am using windows xp pro. I use ibfind using a name input into gpibconfig.exe. ibic.exe returns prompt with ibfind. That's as far as I can get. All subsequent ibwrite() s time out with no output. Ver 2.5 does not seem to not produce gpib.ini file. Scan for Instruments finds the box.

So what gives here. Apparently version 2.5 is not backwards compatible. Is it that version 2.5 absolutely cannot be used with XP?

Hi,

Version 2.5 of the NI-488.2 driver is compatible with Windows XP.  The GPIB.ini file is located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\NI-488.2 for version 2.5 of the NI-488.2 driver.  Also, please look at this link for more information about communication problems with GPIB instruments.  If you're still having problems, the GPIB device and drivers may have been installed incorrectly, so you may troubleshoot GPIB installation problems.
