G Web Development Software: Compliance Driven Lifecycle Update

Hello G Web Users,

Due to an evolving regulatory landscape, notably the European Union's Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), we want to inform you of upcoming lifecycle changes affecting the LabVIEW G Web Development Toolkit.

Beginning December 1, 2027, the LabVIEW G Web Development Toolkit will transition to the Limited Support lifecycle phase. Once in this phase, the product will no longer receive new features, security enhancements, or significant functional updates. For additional information, please view the points below and review NI's Software Lifecycle Phases support model, effective January 15, 2027.

During the Limited Support phase:

  • The LabVIEW G Web Development Toolkit will no longer be available for purchase.
  • Existing versions will remain available for download.
  • No new features, platform support updates, or security enhancements will be provided.
  • Support will primarily be limited to documentation, community forums, and self-service resources.
  • Technical support assistance will require an active service agreement.
  • Customers should purchase any required licenses prior to the last-time-buy (LTB) of November 30th, 2027, date to ensure ongoing activation rights after December 1, 2027.
  • Subscription license holders will be provided a path to convert eligible licenses to perpetual licenses.
For those currently using G Web, we encourage evaluation of alternative web development approaches for future projects. While there is no direct replacement for the G Web, users should consider adopting modern text-based web frameworks in combination with LabVIEW Web Services for device communication and data access. For select remote monitoring and web-based visualization scenarios, SystemLink may provide a partial alternative, though it does not fully replace G Web functionality.

We recognize that this change may impact existing workflows. This transition reflects broader shifts in technologies and security regulations and ensures a sustainable long-term path forward.

Best regards,
Xavier Dukes

For anyone who previously used G Web Development Software to create custom web applications hosted in SystemLink that leverage our HTTP API, I recommend you try out our new SystemLink Command Line Interface which helps streamline building and deploying custom web applications using VS Code or Claude Code. It has support for the SystemLink Nimble design system, so custom web applications will have the same look and feel as our standard applications.

In addition, we will be posting some new videos on our SystemLink Youtube channel over the next few weeks that will help walk you step by step how to install and use it.

Here are a few example screenshots of some custom applications built using the slcli with VS Code and Copilot.
