Currently we are running Labview 8.0 on Windows XP with some NI hardwares: cFP and 6602 timing card. We are planning to buy a new PC with Windows 7 (with XP mode) OS and upgrade Laview to maybe the newest version 2011. So my quesion is will all my old Labview 8.0 VIs and the NI software and hardware we are using compatible with the Windows 7 and Labview 2011? If not, what can we do for the upgrade? The curren PC we are running often crashes.
Thank you very much!

Could you list the types of your cFP controllers as well?
I guess we never tested the XP mode which is somewhat a special use case foe WIN 7 I think?
32 or 64 bit?

The cFP components we have are:
Controller: cFP-2020
thermocouple reader: cFP-TC-120
Analog input: cFP-Al-102
Relay: cFP-RLY-425
Digital input/output: cFP-DIO-550
If they are all compatible with WIN 7, then it is not nessary to run on XP mode. We haven't purchased a new PC yet, so I think we can choose either 32 or 64 bit depending on the compatibility.
Thanks much for help.

Anyone could help with this? Thank you very much.

wisc,
The problem will be the cFP-2020 controller. Support for the 20xx series of controllers was dropped after LV 8.5.1. which is not Win7 compatible. I am currently in exactly the same situation myself. Will be upgrading the controllers shortly.

Wayne. C, thanks a lot for the reply.

Yes, Wayne is right LV 8.5.1 32 bit is the last version supported for your controller type. While it's not officially supported, many customers have been able to install and run pre-2009 versions without issue. The most common problem is with installer errors (Windows SDK Error 12), and those can usually be circumvented. There is more info in this KB:
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/A45AD60ED0A571C28625766B005859D2?OpenDocument
So, while it's not officially supported, it's very possible you may be able to run LabVIEW 8.5.1 in Windows 7 32 bit without using XP mode. If you do run into trouble, definitely try XP mode, though.
I f you consider upgrading your controller you should take the 22x0 version.

i have installed th real time software 8.0 on cfp 2020, but when i am searching my device in labview 8.6 i could not found it.my device is on same LAN on which my host PC is.
please can anybody tell me labview rt 8.0 works with labview8.6... or i have to use labview real time 8.5 for this which is last obtion for me.

The version number of the module needs to match the LabVIEW version number.
For example Real-Time Module 8.0 goes with LabVIEW 8.0 and Real-Time Module 8.5 goes with LabVIEW 8.5.
As discussed above you won't be able to use your cFP 2020 with LabVIEW 8.6. The latest supported version of LabVIEW for the cFP 2020 is 8.5.1 as shown in this KnowledgeBase.
