I just realized that somehow the display of user-defined icons has changed: the aspect ratio seems to have changed, the icons are wider now. They were still ok this morning....

The wide icons are a known issue since the upgrade (read Laura's Known Issues at the bottom of her first post), and my experience will confirm that IE is affected but Chrome is not. Other browsers should show normal aspect ratios.
Make sure IE8 is set for compatibility mode. A small icon to the right of the address bar with a torn sheet of paper. When it is pressed in (turned on) it is a slightly darker shade of blue then when it is not pressed in. (Really bad color selections by MS on this on. The colors are not easy to tell apart until you really look at them!)
