I am a beginner with labview and I am trying to figure out how to write a code to program a button on the joystick to turn on/off a motor for our launcher. I am in a C programming class but Labview is much different than C. Please help me as much as possible and as soon as possible!!

There is a good example of this in the LabVIEW FRC training. This can be found by going to ni.com/frc and there is a couple of links. The one labeled LabVIEW FRC Training powerpoint >> Beginner.ppt. On slide 58 it discusses an exercise which implements a joystick button in a program. The solution for this exercise is also referenced. This presentation will also be helpful if you are new to LabVIEW FRC!

Thank you I will check this out because the program I wrote when we ran it we had robot communication but the joysticks did not seem to work. I am not sure if I missed a step in writing the program or what. I can send you my program later if you want or you can contact me by phone @ 951-490-3894

Also another problem I have just so happened to run into is that our initial programmer dropped off the team but she brought the labview software home with her so I do not have access with working on the program at home on my lap top. Does anyone know a way to download Labview from online?

Check if you have indicated the correct USB port for each Joystick in Begin.vi. Also, check if your computer is detecting the joysticks by going to Windows Start Menu>> In the search programs and files>> type in Set up USB game controllers.
You can download an evaluation version at ni.com/labview and click Download LabVIEW from the grey left hand menu.
