There was a bit of discussion about this in the following thread: https://decibel.ni.com/content/thread/26700?tstart=30  It appears they had some success with the cRIOs.

We talked about getting a 4-slot cRio controller working in this discussion

https://decibel.ni.com/content/thread/26700?tstart=30

Doug Norman did some testing and was able to get a starter LabVIEW project working.

We were also able to program our last years robot using the 4-slot cRIO with the following abilities

  • 2 wheel tank drive
  • 1 Motor to arm the thrower
  • 1 solinoid to fire the thrower
  • 1 motor to retrieve the ball
  • 1 Game controller
  • 2 limit switches

Note that 8 slot chassis are not suported by the 2015 software.

My question is the students use Java will the new driver station support

the Crio running java?

Thanks,

Rob

Yes, the most recent DS release does support that.

You will need to select the '14 robot protocol on the settings tab for it to connect, though.
