NI 9219 strain gauges

Hello,

 

I actually have two small questions which I can't find a solution to it, so I hope to find it here.


• I'm using an NI 9219 connected to a strain gauge in order to measure the strain. I already figured out how the strain gauges are connected to this module but i'm a bit stuck on the TEDS that are being used. Should I see this as just a transducer between the strain gauges and the software on the computer? 

 

• Second remark about the strain gauges is given in the figure (below). This figure shows a beam which is fixed on both ends and loaded in the middle with a force. A bending moment will occur in the middle.
--> Situation 1: I place a strain gauge (red) on top and I measure
--> Situation 2: I place a strain gauge (blue) on the side and I measure
--> Situation 3: I place a strain gauge on the top (red) and on the side (blue) and I measure
--> Situation 4: I place a strain gauge (red) on top and on the bottom (orange) and I measure

I'm wondering what the difference will be between situation 1 and 2 (Only one strain gauge) and 3 and 4 (Two strain gauges). Will there be a difference between 3 and 4 because of the non-parallelism or something?
