shortest pulse width that can be measured with NI 6221 daq

Hello,

I have a M series PCI-6221 card and I intend to use it for the determination of  pulse width. The width of the pulses I would like to measure ranges from around 20ns (nanoseconds) to 1 microsecond. The 6221 has a 80MHz  internal base clock  and external base clock that can be set up to 20MHz.

What is the resolution of the measured pulse widths and what is the shortest pulse width that can be measured ?

 Pulses are of TTL type.

with best regards and  thanks in advance.

Hi,

The PCI-6221 has 32 bit resolution for counters. By this, I mean that it can count upto 2^32 before the count resets. This card can handle a minimum gate pulse width of 12ns and a minimum source pulse width of 6.2 ns. More detailed specifications and descriptions are available in the M Series Help under Specifications and Device Information >> NI 6221 >> Timing Diagrams >> Counters Timing Diagrams >> Input Requirements. I hope that you find this information helpful.

Regards,
Hal L.
