When they ask the wrong question...

I appreciate the wisdom of some on these fora because, when someone asks "How do I do this?" they answer "Why do you want to do that?"  I should have done that last week.

Boss (not mine):  Can we do X?
me: Sure, should be easy. (actually, it borders on trivial)
Boss (not mine): Thanks! (we both go away happy)one week later...
Boss (not mine): Here's the [thing we discussed]!  Can you do [the other thing we discussed] so we can [do something we never discussed, which doesn't even make sense]?
me: ...

Boss (not mine): What!?!?

Worse is when they answer the wrong question.

Me: Project Manager,  where is the deliverable X needed for me to validate Y?

PM: That should have been placed in Z by (Responsible Party) early last week according to the schedule.

Me: That is completely correct! Now could you answer my question?

PM: There are no overdues on the project board!

Me: Yes, I looked at the project board. So.....could you answer my question? Please?

PM: Do you think that I should look into it?

Now you understand my signature line.

So I have a cluster of three scalar coordinates (x,y,z) and LabVIEW won't let me do a FFT of it! I need an FFT!!!! (seen here)
