Eugh. I've finally tracked down the source of a reference leak which was causing me untold headaches on closing of an executable/VI. I'd been aware of this bug feature concern (as an old employer of mine insisted we track these things as 😉 ) for a while, but not really given much thought as to how to track it down. Enter the Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit. Within seconds - OK, minutes, after figuring out that our corporate firewall was blocking ports 3363/3364, and changing to port 21 - I had highlighted the source of the error. In hindsight, I can see there are a number of situations where DETT would have been helpful in chasing down issues, rather than a lot of the more basic tools I usually use. This got me thinking - are there any LV features that you wish you'd known existed sooner?

This one is not actually under the hood but a simple tip I usually use thinking everyone does. But came to know that its been new to many and seems useful
