Just as a counter-part to the Indians thread (Which is growing completely out of control with talk about some mystical activity known as "Cricket" ) I thought I'd check to see if there are any other Irish frequenting these forums......
Of course anyone from the traditional Irish town or cities like Dublin, Cork, Galway, Boston and so on are welcome to pop by... Actually, all are welcome. Which kind of makes the thread title a bit misleading. Either way, this is the official(?) thread to discuss anything to do with Ireland, being Irish or wanting to be Irish (or not wanting to be Irish any more )....
Oh, and I'm Irish myself. Born and raised in Dublin. But I'm a nice guy despite all of that.
And you?
If you want to know what a Breakfast roll is, google for it.
There's no specific reason for this thread's existence. Just for the fun of it.

Although I am often confused with being Irish or of Irish descent (which I'm not), due to my red hair, when I asked an Irish couple on my cruise if I looked Irish they replied "No, you look like you're of Russian descent." ... They were right...

I'm actually continually amazed at the number of people here in Switzerland with red hair and freckles, typical Irish appearance even though they're Swiss.
Irish also never ask if they look Irish, that was probably a dead giveaway....

Breakfast roll: Not in the morning, something to eat for lunch or diner.
For breakfast I prefer two slices of toast, butter (irish one not to mention the brand name) and jam or jelly; alternatively cake or fancy cake.
Ireland, yes I think it is a vacancy (or holyday if BE prefered) worth. Years ago as student I was dreaming of travelling with a house boat over Shannon or Erne

I'll come back March 17.
But really, I'm part Irish. I don't do anything Irish or follow any customs (are there any) or even know anything about Ireland. Neat, huh.

Er, I think you have like 50% of modern-day Irish customs right there. Well not really, but us Irish are a far more heterogenous bunch than Tom Cruise would have you believe.....
"Far and Away" from 1992 is a classic example of how to absolutely murder the Irish accent. Filmed in Ireland with plenty of Irish actors he flew a specialist over from America to teach him how to talk with an Irish accent.... I kid you not.

(Wow Shane, today you're on a roll. ;))
Interestingly, here is the US we only have Dinner Rolls. Maybe caused by the timezone shift. 😄

The Irish have a lot of luck, but you didn't read the fine print. It's not all good....
