I like TiTou's new signature! :^)

TiTou's new signature:

"Switching back to LV 7.1.1... I HATE LabVIEW 8 :@ !!!"

I feel somewhat the same way.  Finding my way with the Functions / Control Palettes is annoying...

Good signature TiTou.  Hope you don't mind this thread..

8.0 is stale anyway. Upgrade to 8.20 instead. 😄

Thanks for this thread Joe, I absolutly don't mind it !

And I think it's interesting to see what people think about the different versions / new functionnalities / etc...

As I explained in a couple of other threads (here first, and then here), I had some bad experience with LV 8.0.1, and apparently I was not the only one.
Yes, tbob, "Changement n'est pas necessairement bon." With the project management, LV8 brings something new and exiting, but also something we have to learn to work with.. And that requires to come to LV 8 without pressure or rush - and this is certainly true with any new version. We are used to work in a certain way and we now need to deeply modify this way of doing things, if we try to come to fast or to keep going with the same procedure, the inavitable will happen.
This is more or less what happened to me and now I'm trying to avoid working under 8, which is certainly a bad idea.

I assume what I need is TIME. Time to get used to the new palette. Time lo understand the project philosophy. Time to learn some more Darren's nugget about 8.20. And above all "free" Time - I mean not working on customer's project that has to be running for yesterday.

I'll be enjoying LV8 someday 😉

Thank you all for your reactions !

You get multiple ***** for your last post.

I totally agree with you.  I am taking LV courses at the moment and using LV8.x

My main frustration is having to look for items in the palettes which have moved and feel like they are hidden somewhere...

Including simple things like File IO..  Imagine if this was to happen in front of a potential employer by doing a demo and not knowing your way around the palettes....  it looks badand is embarassing...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.  And strangely, you'll find that most people complaining at older users, in the sense of "experienced" users, dating pre-LV6x...  or called  "old-school" 😉

Since I'm still under 24 - one week to go... - I hope I am not "old school" yet Smiley Surprised

Smiley Very Happy Smiley Very Happy Smiley Very Happy

about "hidden" functions, I'm seriously concidering a deep customization of the tools and function palettes to match more or less waht I have in LV 7.1.1.
BTW, is it still easily customizable in LV 8.2, are there any change/improvments Smiley Surprised ?

OOppss!!!  You're a young lad..

Or "Un p'ti jeune" as we say over here!.

Yes, I am aware that the palettes are customizable.  Until I seriously work with LV8.x, I'm not going to invest too much time doing that.  I think they still are in LV8.2.  There are lots of cool features for that one.
