Biosignal Logger and Player
Biosignal Logger and Player in Biomedical Workbench of LabVIEW Biomedical Toolkit utilizes analog input channels from National Instruments hardware, such as NI ELVIS II or NI data acquisition (DAQ) hardware, to acquire signals.
Complete the following steps to measure signals by using the Biosignal Logger
- Launch the Biosignal Logger. Select Biosignal Logger and Player from the Biomedical Workbench. One blank chart will show up on your screen.
- Complete the following steps to select and configure each channel you want to enable for use with the Biosignal Logger. Each entry in the Channel column corresponds to an input channel on the DAQ hardware.
- Note If you use NI ELVIS II, you must ensure that the output channels and the input channels on the prototyping board are directly connected using metal wires.
- Switch the Boolean to Logger and click on Logger Settings. A pop-up window named Step 1 - AI Channel / 3 Steps for Setting should show up on your screen.
- Select the device corresponding to the correct input channel on the DAQ hardware from the Physical channel drop-down menu and enter a name for the channel.
- Choose a conversion scale from the sensor scaling menu if necessary. This will tell the Logger to automatically use the correct calibration.
- Specify the Input Range and Sampling Rate of the channel.
- Click the checkmark button in the right side of Channel Settings to add the channel.
- Click Next to enter Step 2 - Virtual Channel / 3 Setps for Setting.
- Step 2 allows you to create virtual channels to apply filtering, calculation, and customized processing to the biosignals that you want to log. If you don't need a virtual channel, skip Step 2 and go to Setp 3 by click the Next button.
- Enter a name in the Channel name blank and set a unit name in the Unit string.
- Select the original channel from the Channel drop-down menu.
- Select the type in the type drop-down menu for the virtual channel and specify other settings corresponding to your specific configurations.
- Click the Next button to enter Step 3 - Logging / 3 Steps for Settings.
- In Tab. AI and Virtual Channels View Sequence, select the channel you want to log. Place a checkmark in front of the channel. This will tell the Logger to log the data of the corresponding channel.
- Specify the file path to log the signal in the TDMS path control.
- Repeats steps 1 to 13 to configure more channels and Click the OK button to save the channel configuration.
- Click the Start button to begin measuring signals from the DAQ device.
(Optional) Click the Log button to log the data you acquire into a binary measurement file (.tdms).
Click the Stop button to stop measuring the signal.
.
Complete the following steps to dispaly signals from a specified path by using the Biosignal Player
- Switch the Boolean to Player and click on Player Settings. A pop-up window named Select a File to Play will show up on your screen.
- Select the file you want to play from the File path control.
- Select the channel in the File contents column.
- Specify the Current start time and Window length in the Waveform Graph Settings.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Start button to begin displaying the data. The playback speed can be configured by the control below the Start button.
- Click the Stop button to stop displaying the signal.
- Click the Help button on the Biosignal Logger and Player Window to pull up a Help window that explains the details about each of these settings.
