Ethernet CompactDAQ chassis with C-series CAN-module?

Hi,

Anybody experience with an Ethernet CompactDAQ chassis (for example cDAQ-9184) in combination with a NI 9862 or NI 9861 CAN Interface?

Is it exactly the same as using a NI PCI CAN Interface-card (for example PCI-8512/2) ?

Is a CompactDAQ-setup also compatible with the NI ECU Measurement and Calibration Toolkit and NI Automotive Diagnostic Command Set toolkits?

Is it possible to run different CAN-protocols on the same CAN-bus through one CAN interface? For example using in one app XCP and UDS?

Thanks,

Roger

yes from a software perspective CompactDAQ/9862 will work identically as eg PCI NI 8512

only difference may be that there is some higher latency cause of the Ethernet network compared to access on PCI bus.

Last recent ECU Measurement and Calibration Toolkit and NI Automotive Diagnostic Command Set will run on any NI-XNET hardware, and plattform so yes cDAQ USB and Ethernet is supported as well. With last recent revision released in August 2013 you are able to run standard CAN communication as well as ECUMC and ADCS on a single interface/port.

Thanks for the answer.

How much more latency can be expected when using a dedicated LAN-network with only de PC and cDAQ in comparison with a PCI connected CAN interface? For example, is it 10x more?

Thanks,

Roger
