USB WIFI module connected to myRIO

I would like to know if it is possible to connect a wifi module trough USB on my myRIO-1900?

I have a TP-link AC600 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB adapter (model: T2UH). I would like to connect it to the myRIO trough USB A if possible.

The idea is to use it to communicate with my groundstation.

I hope you have some suggestions 🙂

Hi Frysten,

I first of all wondered whether you knew the myRIO-1900 had a Wifi card built in? or are you trying to add extended Wifi capabilities?

What you are trying to do will require adding in drivers for the particular device in Linux. Posting in the  NI Linux Real-Time Community should provide better insight on how to do this.

If you search "Wifi USB" there are many posts on how to do this.

I hope this helps!

Hej Matthew

I am aware of the built in WIFI. We need better Range and 5 GHz

I am not familiar with Linux. I use either Windows or Mac. Is it only possible using Linux?

Hi Frysten,

The reason that I reference Linux is because you need a specific compiled driver for your device on Linux. The myRIO is an embedded device that runs NI Linux Real-Time (ARM-based) as found on:

https://www.ni.com/en/support/documentation/compatibility/17/real-time-controllers-and-real-time-ope...

I would suggest having a look at the following : "Tutorial: Adding Kernel Modules on NI Linux Real-Time"

There is also a fair amount of information on that forum about USB Wifi if you do a quick search.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
