In Step 4.1 (insmod module.ko) I was getting "Error: could not insert module ch34x.ko: Unknown symbol in module"

The solution was to run "modprobe usbserial" and then step 4.1. So it seems any dependent modules need to be started before running "insmod module.ko".

Just thought I would leave this here in case someone else runs into a similar issue.
