problem with USB-6211 driver

I recieved a USB-6211 daq system this friday.

I followed the manual and installed all the software on my computer.
When I plug in the usb-6211 it is recognized as a daq system and starts the usb-621x loader.

When I try to find it in MAX it can't connect to the database.
the knowledge base for this problem doesn't help.

in hardware control it is display as a Data acquisition device (usb-621x loader)
I reinstalled the NI software serval times (labview 8.2.1 and daq software from cd and internet)

When I connect the DAQ to another laptop I get the same problem but in Max it is just not recognized.

I tried this morning on a desktop workstation and there after the usb-621x loader, the installation of the usb-6211 driver starts.
And everything is regognized in max.

Can anyone tell me how I can forced my computer to used a 6211 driver?

I had similar problems.  I am using DAQmx 8.5 and had these problems (whether it worked depended on the USB port I plugged into).  When I plugged it into a machine running DAQmx 8.3 I haven't had any problems.

FYI, when you plug it in, two things should install.  First the 621x loader, and then the drivers for the 6211 itself.

In my system where I had problems (and I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not), I have one of those Belkin wireless USB devices hooked up.  When I plugged it into this device, it seemed to work fine, but when I plugged it into a regular USB device, it never tried to install the drivers for the 6211 itself.

Thanks for the reply.

The problem is exactly the same.  It doesn't want to load the actual usb-6211 driver.
But I don't have a belkin usb device.

Downgrading to DAQmx 8.3 didn't help.

I tried all the usb ports of the laptop but no luck.

I managed to force the system to use the right driver by starting ni spy and device monitor.

They made that the system recognized the daq as a 6211 and installed the right driver

Hi,

I have the same problem but still can't resolve it.  I also have the LED not illuminated, but the connection seems fine.  I even tried another cable and other USB ports.  It seems funny, cause just this afternoon it worked just fine.  I shut down normally and when I returned to my computer to continue on my vi, it dropped dead.

It shows up in MAX, but when I run the self test I get the error -88705, which basically means the device is unplugged or not installed correctly (which the LED already told me).

I also tried to force the driver by "updating" the driver in device manager and selecting USB-621x (as I guess this is the one that is THE driver), but no effect.

ps : I have NIDaq 8.3, so mayby I should try a newer version ??

Ok, meanwhile I downloaded DAQ 8.6 from ni.com, installed it and it worked without any problem.

So I guess this is the way to go.

I am also having a problem with seing my card. The LED doesn't go on. Does this mean the card is dead?
