NI WPF/Silverlight Roadmap

I would like to start a new thread based on a posting I put in last year regarding NI and it's WPF/Silverlight Roadmap.  I'm curious of this after seeing Scott Guthrie talk about NI during his keynote at PDC2009.

NI, can you please give us a better plan on what is in the pipeline for WPF, Silverlight and Measurement Studio?  What types of controls are you working/thinking about releasing?  Any specific dates for Beta/RTM releases?

Customers,  if you use .NET and NI tools, add your comments here on how you may use Silverlight and what you would like to see developed from NI in the WPF and Silverlight space.

Thanks in advance.

Seconded.  As our lab and software scope grows, it would be advantagous to have a rich and centrally located application / web interface that allowed for instrumentation control and data presentation / analysis.  Silverlight "seems" to offer the best of both worlds.  We are currenly using the scatter plot, numeric edit, knob, and swtich controls in our windows application.

Discussed below are Measurement Studio support plans, covering Visual Studio 2010, WPF and Silverlight. As with any software development plans, dates have not been finalized and plans are subject to change.

National Instruments is dedicated to providing Measurement Studio support for new technologies, including new operating systems and the latest Microsoft development Frameworks, I/O integration and improving .NET developer productivity.

Current development is focused on support for Visual Studio 2010, User Interface enhancements and extended data acquisition hardware support. The Measurement Studio 2010 Beta will be available in the upcoming months and will release later in the year. To assist in our planning, we would appreciate if you would share your plans to use Visual Studio 2010 in a short survey

While the next release of Measurement Studio will not include WPF or Silverlight support, our plan is to offer WPF and Silverlight controls similar to what we offer today for WindowsForms and WebForms. This support will not be available until sometime after the upcoming release of Measurement Studio.

To ensure that we are developing Measurement Studio support that meets your needs, I encourage you to continue to provide your feedback on WPF and Silverlight support.

If you require additional information on Measurement Studio support plans please contact Adri Kruger, Measurement Studio Product Manager, at adri.kruger@ni.com.
