Hi, recently I had to change my computer for the other one and I have unsuspected problems with installing my PCI-1408 DAQ. According to NI-IMAQ 3.8 Readme file:
All image acquisition device documents and some NI-IMAQ driver software documents are available in the installed <NI-IMAQ>/Docs folder, where <NI-IMAQ> is the location to which NI-IMAQ is installed. NI-IMAQ documentation for LabVIEW is available in the <LabVIEW>/help folder, where <LabVIEW> is the location to which LabVIEW is installed
In non of them I couldn’t find any driver file what so ever. So I did as the ni web guide was saying (just to make myself sure):
1) If you have not already installed the NI-IMAQ driver software, install it now.
2) Select System from the Control Panel, select the Hardware tab, and click Device Manager.
3) In the Other Devices section of the Device Manager, right-click the PCI Multimedia Video Device and select Uninstall.
4) In the Device Manager, select Action»Scan for hardware changes. The system now recognizes the image acquisition device.
5) Restart the computer before using the image acquisition device.
But still it did not work.
While struggling in the internet just to find one file witch gona contain my desire driver I have found that the driver is given for this card only with ni-imaq and ni-imaqdx liblary... ugrrrrr I have them!. What I found was the “Driver uptade disc Aug 09” so I downloaded it completly (3,6GB) and I got this:
No drivers at all.
In ni.com I was trying to get some support with the result:
so in my case pci-1408 I get:
hymmmmm....
google.com stays silently for phrase pci 1408 driver. Where I can get files just to instal this carsd? Year ago I installed it on other one without any problems.

The 1408 was discontinued circa 2001. I looked at one of my cards, it came bundled with IMAQ 2.5.1. You may want to try that version. I think IMAQ support for that card stopped in a few versions later than that release. v3.8 probably does not support it.
Various versions can be downloaded here:
