motion detection

hi
i am new to labview.trying to build a motion detector system using a PIR sensor. i have got the sensor connected with my PC using NI USB 6009 daq card. i can graph the data that i am acquiring.now i want to use the led control  so that it will flash every time PIR sensor will detect a motion.or even if there is anyother way to build this motion detector system.any help on this how to contruct the program?thanx

kind regards

Hi Safayet,

I would need to have some more information about how your system is built. How have you wired the PIR sensor to the 6009? What signal does the PIR sensor send out to the 6009 when it detects a motion?

hello there
thanx for the reply, i am using a PIR sensor that has 3 pins :Vs, Vout and Vground. i have placed the PIR sensor on a serial board and wired that serial board with one of the channels. 6009 has an usb connection with the pc. The PIR sensor gives an anlog voltage output. Please let me know if require any other onfo.thanx alot.

I apologize if I have not understood your application correctly but do you just want a led control on your front panel to go high when you detect an analog out? You can achieve this by placing a conditional node on the data which is being read by your read function and then change the value of the control. If you attach an example of what you have done, I can help you out a bit more.

I have USB 6501 Digital I/O Device and a LC 100PI PIR Motion Detector and i wanna connect them to take data from the sensor and use it in Labview the Digital Device  has lower input voltage and i'm worried about that because the output voltage of the sensor is higher

The Sensor Specifications are :

Detection Method : Quad(Four Element) PIR

Power Input : 9.6 - 16 VDC

Current Draw : Standby 8mA Active 10mA

Compensation YES

Alarm Period 2sec

Alarm Output N.C 28VDC 0.1A with 27Ohm series protection resistor

Tamper Switch N.C 28VDC with 10Ohm series protection resistor

Warm Up period 60sec

RFI Protection 30V/m 10-1000MHz

Digital Device Spec : http://sine.ni.com/ds/app/doc/p/id/ds-135/lang/en

Thank You All for the Help !

It appears that you PIR alarm output may just be a relay contact rated for a max of 28V at 0.1A.

Can you post a link or attach the actual data sheet for the sensor?
