As a note, that isn't a strange behavior. The "Show Horizontal Scroll Bar" option only becomes available once you disable word wrapping. This is 100% expected behavior because the text cannot both wrap and scroll at the same time. Limit to a single line, disable word wrap, and then enable the horizontal scroll bar, and that should take care of it!
