Hi everyone,
I have some problems with the Measurement & Automation Explorer. When I try to open it there is an error about the MAXKnownException. IF I press for more details I get the next information:
The niGPIBsys.dll plug-in caused an exception in the CmxSysExpertManager::FinalizeExpert function in the NIMax process.
I am using Windows 7 and LabView 2011.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Is this the first time that this has happened, or have you never been able to open MAX without this happening?
What version of MAX are you using and what other NI software have you got installed?
Have you been doing anything with GPIB specifically?
Could you upload a screen shot of the error you get?
Best regards,
James O’Neill – Applications Engineer – National Instruments

Hello,
Please pardon me of you've already done the following. You didn't say you had and many people have missed this step.
When NI MAX throws this error it should include instructions on what to do. I highly suggest that you follow the instructions... which should be...
Visit www.ni.com/info and enter Info Code "MAXKnownException". Your error is not specifically included within the list of 7 scenarios. However, there is a similar one "CmxSysExpertManager::InitializeExpert" related to the nipalsys.dll.
I suggest you follow the instructions to obtain a MAX Technical Report etc. and contact NI Support.
If you are looking for additional support, you might try the following. I updated NI 488.2 ver 3.1. https://www.ni.com/en/support/documentation/bugs/17/archived--ni-488-2-3-1-bug-fixes.html
Notice that it fixes several issues related to your GPIB. Follow the link to the driver update or...
https://www.ni.com/en/support/downloads/drivers/download.ni-488-2.html.
However, the reason doing this worked for my "MAXKnownException" error (unrelated to GPIB) was because it came with the NI System Configuration (NI MAX) 5.3.3 f2 patch.
Sincerely, Scott Pierskalla

Hi,
First of all, thank you very much for your responses.
I attach some screenshots and a report in case someone in the future report the same problem.
I checked the www.ni.com/info and the scenario you said ("CmxSysExpertManager::InitializeExpert"), I followed the instructions and it did not have any result.
After that, I updated NI 488.2, NI-DAQmx 9.6.1, NI-VISA 5.1.2 , and NI System Configuration 5.3.3 - Run-Time. After doing this I got another error in MAX referring to a database abortion, so I followed the steps to removing MAX Database Corruption.
Now everything is working properly.
Thank you very much for your help and I hope this will help someone else.
