What is the hardware that you have?  What frequencies are you trying to achieve?  If you have one of our vector signal generators, you should be able to generate noise with it.  If you have our CW sources, those generate only sine waves at a single tone.  What kind of noise do you want to generate?  There are plenty of VIs in LabVIEW and the Modulation Toolkit (e.g. Add phase noise), which can add noise into a signal for you.  However, I would need more information from you, on what kind of noise you are trying to generate etc.

Hi Raajit,

I am using NI PXI-5610 (Up Converter) & NI PXI-5421 (AWG), requirement is to generate cw wave with noise for frequencies up to 2GHz.Phase noise should satisfy the requirement.

Hi Sunil,

The NI PXI-5610 (Up Converter) & NI PXI-5421 (AWG) make up our PXI-5671 RF Vector Signal Generator.   With this device, you can add phase noise to any signal generation in arbitrary waveform mode.  You can do this by adding noise to your signal and streaming it out through the arb.  There are various examples that demonstrate how to load your own custom waveforms into the arbitrary waveform generator.  These can be found through the example finder (Help » Find Examples » Hardware Input and Output » NI-RFSG » Arbitrary Waveforms).   To provide a truly CW signal you will need to use the CW mode which doesn't allow you to add custom noise.  You could possibly add some noise by lower the power level of your signal near the noise floor.  Theres some really good information regarding the differences between our CW generators and our Vector Generators here.

Hi Sunil,

For the PXI-567x product family (PXI-5421 and PXI-5610 = PXI-5670), the CW generation mode is mechanically and programmatically equivalent to generating a 16 sample IQ sinusoidal waveform in AWG mode. That being said, you could easily mimic CW mode by creating a 16 sample waveform with I set to 1 and Q set to 0. You could also use the 45 degree point and set I and Q to 0.707..., sin(45). This will then give you a sinusoidal waveform you can place at the carrier frequency of your choice.

Once you create this waveform you can then use the Add Phase Noise VI from our Modulation toolkit, or any algorithm of your own writing. I would recommend using more than 16 samples for this purpose to ensure randomness in the applied phase noise. We use 16 samples in our CW mode because that is the minimum waveform length we can download to the signal generator.

In regards to the resources Paul mentioned, I wanted to point out that both CW and AWG modes of the PXI-567x products are different from our CW Source products, or PXI-565x.

my question is How can i do to show the graph out in frontal panel ?

Sorry I have not understood your question, can u be more clear with what exactly u want. Do u want to display the signal being generated by RFSG on Front panel?
