Hello, I am new using USRP. I wanto to develop a project about a ground station for satellite communicaction based on SDR. So I want to connect my usrp to a satellite dish antenna (those used for TV) .
The problem is that the RF port of USRP is SMA and the dish antenna has a different one (Those used for TV I guess it is RG). So I would like to know how I can connect USRP to this dish antenna.
Regards

Hi,
It might be helpful to look at the CubeSat experiment which used a USRP and contact the project team:

Hi,
the connector type is F then you can easily find on internet F to BNC and next BNC to SMA.
But you will have a harder problem, on the dish side, there is a LNB (low noise block downconverter) whch downconvert KU band fequencies to L band. the LNB need power supply through the coxial cable. Any satellite receiver has LNB power supply inside. take a look at this link :
http://www.dawnco.com/ws4d_product_7792.html
the power supply will change voltage and send 22kHz tone to select which band and polarization is received.
good luck and best regards
