Synchronize cRIO chassis to GPS (e.g. PPS or IRIG signal to PFI0)

I need to synchronize the CRIO chassis (e.g. 9057) to the GPS clock. Can I use an external GPS module (for example a Garmin) and connect the PPS (or IRIG) signal to the PFI0 input of the cRIO chassis? Does NI-SYNC allow me to configure such a timing source?

I was using a GPS cRIO module and FPGA-Timekeeper to timestamp samples of a dynamic signal acquisition module. The dynamic signal modules were still running with their own clock and I had to resample the waveform. I would prefer if the chassis clock were synchronized to the GPS clock and the FPGA and all clocks were coherent.

Is this principally possible? Is there an example? I could not find an explicit answer or example in the NI-Sync documentation or cRIO chassis documentation.

I am also exploring syncing a cRIO 9042 to a provided IRIG signal. We have a NI 9402 module to listen to the IRIG signal. We are deploying to the cRIO using a Veristand system def, but we have labview examples for setting up synchronization. If we run the labview examples and then deploy our veristand system def to the cRIO (without the definition including the 9402 module) would it still remain synchronized to IRIG?
