how to work with gpib sriel polling procedure

Hi all,

 i try to communicate with a Black Body, i give him a define Temperatur via GPIB, and it all works when I using the Commands as a String and work with GPIB-REAd and GPIB-WRITE. But if i want to read the status if the temperatur is almost stabil or not the describtion say " use the serial polling procedure syntax" and i don't really know how to filtering te rigth byte to get this information.

I know that the third byte is the one I need and that it has to be ,1 but how? 

Is it possible to get this information?
