A temperature controller, from a high level, is a device that controls the temperature of a system or process.  This reference application  discusses common features of temperature controllers and presents a CompactRIO implementation.  Note: While this reference application specifically addresses  temperature controllers, it may also be applied to slow speed  applications (<10 Hz) requiring PID or on/off control.
