CRIO not identifying in REMOTE and will not allow to load software to it

I am trying to configure CRIO-9035 (non-sync version). I installed LV 2016, Realtime 2016, FPGA 2016 and CRIO driver and in NI-MAX to setup the target I see the unit under the remote but when I expand nothing comes up under devices for this target and the unit stays in safe mode and doesnt allow me to load software stating "NI cRIO 9035 01AE4C6 the selected target does not support this function."

Try to connect your cRIO to your computer via the USB device port (the USB-B port - a virtual network connection should be installed) or connect it to a network with a DHCP controller. Access as long a the cRIO has a link local IP address is always difficult in my experience.
