TS9066: Channel Wires: The Next Evolution of Dataflow

Speakers:

Jeff Kodosky (Cofounder and NI Business and Technology Fellow, National Instruments)

Stephen Loftus-Mercer (Senior Software Engineer, National Instruments)

Jeff Kodosky, NI cofounder and business and technology fellow, revolutionized test, control, and embedded design application development with the invention of LabVIEW software. His vision for LabVIEW is that the software platform continues to reduce complexity for engineers and scientists who are automating test and measurement applications. At this session, hear about the next innovation in LabVIEW that is designed to simplify communication between loops and reduce complexity in applications that use asynchronous programming techniques.

This presentation includes FAQ at the end. Two questions that were commonly asked that aren't in the PDF:

  1. What platforms support channel wires?
Channel wires can be used on Desktop and Real-time in LV 2016. In LV 2017, we will add FPGA support.
  2. What data types can channel wires carry?
Channel wires can carry any data type found in LabVIEW, including clusters, arrays, objects, strings, paths, Booleans, numerics, waveforms, etc.
