Abstract: The world’s manufacturers face enormous pressure to maintain fast, flexible, and scalable production with higher quality. This drives manufacturing companies to search for innovations to achieve those requirements. Plug-and-produce devices, robots, and machines are facilitating the conceptual transformation to the cyber-physical production systems paradigm in production environments. This session examines a case study of the Future of Aircraft Factory to show how using an open robotic interface enables platform-based design and real-time performance in automating assembly and check operations for aircraft components.
