Abstract: Testing mechatronic vehicle components is one of the most challenging applications for automated test benches because it requires effective, reliable, and precise closed-loop control. To meet these challenges for an electric power steering servohydraulic test bench, ITK engineers applied a modular approach. They used an NI PXI real-time system with NI VeriStand software, the LabVIEW Real-Time Module, and commercial closed-loop control solutions, including standard PID and higher order controllers, to automate test bench operation, testing, and controller parameter tuning.
