scxi-1121 install to a pxi-1011 chasis (PXI-8186 real time controller)

Hello everyone,

I am part of an IEEE student club chapter at my school. we recently received old lab equipment that we would like to try out. we are trying to install the SCXI-1121 Module into our computer (PXI-1011 Chassis with a PXI-8186 Real time controller). ive used labview before but never used national instruments equipment. the computer does not detect the module, we have attached the unit to the chassis and there is no update or option for it on labview. could anyone help figure out what is wrong? like i said, i dont know too much about the hardware. Although, i have a feeling the SCXI module is not compatible with our chassis. is there a proper way to installing them that we missed? (download driver...?) this stuff is pretty old by the way.

Hello!

You'll need to properly configure your system before you are able to utilize it in LabVIEW.

Have a look at this KB article and follow the steps in setting up your SCXI system to see if that works for you:

I don't see any reason that the 1121 module shouldn't be compatible with the 1011 chassis.

Also it is best to never seat modules while the chassis is powered on.  You should always insert the modules, then power on the chassis, then power the attached computer (if there is one).
