installing RT on PXI

Hi,
I have a PXI-8196 with two PXI-7350 boards. Windows XP is installed on 8196, but I can also boot in RealTime Safe Mode.
When trying to boot in RealTime, is entering also in Safe Mode, probably RealTime is not installed yet.
I can see the 8196 in MAX's Remote Systems on the host computers, but I cannot see the two boards.

Question 1: I don't see the boards because I have no drivers installed on the host or because I have no RealTime installed on 8196 ?

Windows XP on the 8196 is installed on a FAT32 disk. In Windows Explorer I can see only disk C:
I presume that I have to install LV RealTime from the host computer on the 8196

Question 2: where is LV RealTime going to be installed on the 8196 ? It will delete the WindowsXP ? It will create another partition ?

If I will have to use a new host, can somebody tell me which is the exact order in which I have to install all the software ?

Thank you very much !

When the controller has booted on the Windows XP partition, it is a separate computer and it will need NI-DAQmx installed to see the cards.

When booted up on a RT OS, you will need to install NI-DAQmx to see the cards in remote systems.  You can install the drivers through remote systems by right clicking on the software tab and selecting Add/remove software.  But first you need the RT OS  installed on a 32 GB FAT32 partition and for it to be the first partition.

You can create a second partition.  However if the first partition is already Windows XP, you'll have to remove the OS because the RT OS must be on the first partition of 32 GB with FAT32.  If Windows XP is not on the first partition and there's enough space you could use a program like Partition Magic to create that necessary partition, then use a boot disc to boot into RT, and install all the software through remote systems on a host PC.

Then to see your cards, make sure you add NI-DAQ that corresponds to what is on the host.  Always make sure that the versions of software match between the host and the target.
