data acquisition from a pxi system

I would like to capture data on an external PC from the NI-6289 modules in my PXI system.  I have the PXI-1045 chassis and the PXI-8109 controller.  The PC and the PXI system is connected via PCI/PXI MXI-4. 

Correct me if I'm wrong but to my understanding, the 6289 modules should be visible to the PC. The PC would either fail to boot when connected to MXI-4 or the 6289 modules won't be visible.  Do you think there's some sort of PCI compatibility issue here? Or is there possible something wrong with my setup?

Guidance on how to get this working is appreciated.

So to be clear, you have both the MXI 4 controller in the chassis, as well as the 8109?  You can only have one controller per chassis, and it needs to be in the controller slot.  The only time you would have both in one chassis is if you were daisy chaining multiple chassis.  If you want to control the cards from the PC, then you need to remove the 8109 and put the MXI controller in the controller slot.
