What is the difference between a reset and a soft reboot through NI MAX for a PXI controller 8187?

What exactly happens when a PXI 8187 controller is reset?  Also, what happens when it is soft-rebooted via NI MAX?  Are more registers being cleared with the reboot as opposed to the reset?

They should behave the same.  It is a complete restart of the system.  Are you seeing different behavior between the different reset methods?

Yes we are seeing slightly different results.  Are there any additional registers that are cleared when using the soft reboot?  We use a Windows OS PC to command our PXI-8187 and various other test instruments.  Sometimes the entire system hangs (times out) and a reset commanded by our software does not clear the problem, but a soft reboot through NI MAX does.
