Use GigE on host with FGEN from RT PXI advisable?

Hi,

until now I only had WinOS installed on my PXI-controller 8880. Since I want to be able to acquire many images using my GigE camera while using my FGEN and SCOPE. My host has 128GB of ram and the PXI-Controller just 8GB.

I was wondering if it is a good idea to switch to LinuxRT on my PXI-Controller and connect the camera to the host PC's ethernet card.

Is this even possible?
