@Terry_ALE
The PXIe-8301 is meant to work with all standard Thunderbolt connectivity. It will require a special version of PXI Platform Services that has not been released yet.

Nick - correct, the PXIe-8301 can only be used with PXI Express chassis.
Terry - to clarify, while the PXIe-8301 would be detected correctly on a Mac as a Thunderbolt device, etc. there are many other considerations to make it a useful part of a test system. There is no Measurement and Automation Explorer (NI MAX) for Macintosh, and every device driver would need to be individually considered as well. If you are curious to try a Macintosh laptop, I would highly recommend Boot Camp to Windows.

Does the configuration work as below.
2015 MBP with thunderbolt 2 -> thunderbolt 2 cable -> Apple thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 3 adapter -> PXI-8301 MXI -> PXIe chassis.
Could anyone comment?

Hi maxlo,
Yes, that configuration with Mac will work.
FYI - Using Apple’s Thunderbolt adapter is important for your setup. Most non-Apple adapters can only support Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2, but not vice versa.
Best regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,
Thanks for quick reply.
A further question, does it support both Mac OS and Bootcamp?
Do not need to consider other PXI card driver on Mac OS, we need to confirm if Mac OS can "see" other PXI cards on chassis.

Hi maxlo,
You’re welcome, I’m always happy to help. Great question...
Yes, via both MacOS and bootcamp, your Macbook will see devices in the chassis. Even without drivers on MacOS, the 8301 will show up in System Information under Hardware\Thunderbolt; other devices will be seen under Hardware\PCI.
Best regards,
Nick
