RF: Add White Noise to an IQ stream

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi all,

As the title has mentioned, I am attempting to add noise to an IQ stream. I have found that there is a VI in the RF pallet called NIFPGARFfp Add AWGN which creates a scale factor to apply to the noise skirts of my carrier signal. This scale gets truncated up to the power RMS value of the signal. I am wanting to modify this VI to generate white noise to the entire signaland have the user insert the disired scale factor. Any thoughts on this?

Lastly, I am under the impression that NI truncated the white noise level for a reason. Any thoughts on what that is? Ultamately, I would like to see if my signal can still be read/corrected with high noise levels.

Hi,

Thank you for posting to the forums!

What hardware are you using? I was able to find this community post, which you may find helpful: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-30500

Unfortunately, I'm unsure what the reason would be for truncating the white noise level.
