PXI-8513: Powering External Module

Hello,

My client has requested the product I'm developing interface with the PXI-8513. I understand the module requires 5VDC @ 640mA nominal but I'm wondering if the module can also supply the product I'm developing?

I'm wondering if pin 9 from the D-Sub pinout can act as a power supply for my isolated CAN transceiver on my product? I would require 8-24V with a power requirement of approximately 3-5W. Would I need an external battery supply also demonstrated in the manual?

Hello,

Do I understand correctly that you are looking to supply an external device via pin 9?

In this case, based on NI-CAN Hardware and Software Manual's pin descriptions (page 76) those are used when an external power supply is needed.
