The other device that you are seeing is most likely the PCI to PCI bridge. The PCI-1044 has three PCI bus segments, thus it has two of these bridges. Some motherboards have trouble handling all these PCI slots. The first thing I would recommend is updating the BIOS to the latest version. This KB has more information.
If upgrading your BIOS doesn't help, I would try installing PXI Platform Services 2.4.2 to make sure you have the latest driver.
Finally, post two things:
1. The make and model of your PC; as much information about it as possible.
2. The model and part number of your MXI-4 card.

I found the problem. I had not yet installed the driver for a third party cCPI device (GE/Condor ARINC) which was also present in the NI rack. Once the driver was installed and the hardware wizard properly recycled, the Other Device was replaced with the GE/Condor Device.
